Randy Knight…
September 23rd, 1954
~ March 8th, 2023
Today the world sadly lost a worldclass blues player, and a great man.
As his friend for 50 years, I have watched Randy go through many seasons. In the end, he had a humble heart full of love for his fellow man, and a true faith in God accompanied by an always present gratefulness for the Lord’s hand in his life.
Like all of us, Randy had his failings, but one thing that he never lost sight of was the constant effort to improve his skill, and his sound.
He told me many times before he died that he had finally reached a level of playing he was happy with and that he had put the right combination of equipment together to deliver a sound that was uniquely his and allowed him to reach a level he had always sought from his beginnings nearly six decades earlier.
Randy and I met in 1973 and started a band. We were instantly bonded through music and while our lives sometimes took different paths for a while, we never lost touch, and always would come back to playing with each other.
I do, and will miss my friend, my brother.
This site is set up to fulfill his wishes to sell his equipment and bless his two daughters, Wendy and Sammy. He wanted nothing more than to leave them with something of value from his life.
Fortunately, prior to his death, he had the opportunity to reconcile with his daughters and was excited about spending the rest of his days being a part of their lives and the lives of his grandchildren. Unfortunately fate intervened and randy succumbed to esophageal cancer March 8th 2023 at the age of 68.
The sale is being handled by Gordon Close of Melody Music and Elite Sound.
Gordon has been a friend and advisor since opening his store also in 1973. He is a top-notch Jazz Guitarist, Vintage Collector, and will handle all aspects of the sales. Gordon is a wonderful gentleman. Please treat him with the utmost respect.
